The I.D. exhibit consisted of 26 portraits (13 ink drawings on paper of the torso's of the group and then 13 painted portraits). The people featured include local shop owners, Ipswich art identities, local teachers and students. The works were exhibited as a group of portraits on one side and the cropped clothed torso on the other side of the gallery. The positioning prompted the audience to try to match the body with the correct head. In the process of this matching game prejudices and assumptions were sometimes revealed in the audiences perceptions of youth culture. This exhibition was undertaken in 2012 while I was the artist in residence at the historic Old Courthouse, Ipswich. Photography by LeAnne Vincent
